I'm ashamed that I've not posted since August 19. It seems to be a bit of an epidemic around the blog world. It's not because I don't have anything to say but really I have so much to share I didn't know where to start. So, I'll hit the highlights of the last several weeks.
--I was accepted into Plush You's show at Nancy! I sent 3 owls, which seemed to take a lifetime to get done. But, I made it well before the deadline (yay me!) and the show opens this weekend. If only I had time and money to make a quick trip to Seattle.
--One dreary day in August I looked out the back door to see this on the peak of the barn roof! I was sure that word was out that I was turning 42 a few weeks later and the vultures were already circling.
--My bestie Rachelle and I decided to try our luck selling our baby stuff at the Kalona (Iowa) Fall Festival. I sold 2 things. She sold a few bibs and a purse. The only people making money were the Amish and Mennonite bakers. I'm Mennonite! Next time (if there is a next time) I will have to sell pies ;)
--We spent 5 days at Old Threshers. We go every year...it's my husband's "thing." This year both girls were really into it.
Here they are getting Marge all spiffied up for some photos...
running the well driller.
Old Threshers takes place about 20 miles from our house so we usually spend nights at home in our beds. This year we borrowed a friend's camper. It was 2 of the longest nights of my life. This town girl has lived in the country far too long to appreciate city sounds, especially the Amtrak and coal trains whizzing through.
--My in-laws tore down their house recently to make way for a new one. Ellie cried so much. It was hard for her to understand that the house had been neglected far too long. It will be replaced with a modular house in a couple weeks. It was a beautiful house in its time.
Well, those are some of the highlights. I have a lot more to share, including some holiday-related patterns and other goodies, so I hope you'll stop back by :)
