My first estate sale

I was way out of my element.  And the prices!!  Extremely out of my price range.  I did find this cute sewing basket with a few vintage sewing items inside.  If your name is Miller let me know.  I have a vintage thimble with Miller for Mayor on it.

We were gone all weekend.  No crafty time for me.  Wings for the pig are making me crazy.  Today I will figure it out.  I've scrapped 2 versions.  Third time is the charm?!?

I came home to my sweetie Marshall and took lots of pictures.  Someone wants to buy him!!  Fools.  There is no price on my Marshall.  For those who asked about Molly, she's doing well.  She's on antibiotic injections for a little infection after having Marshall, but she's going to be fine.

How is that when you have a few days of vacation they fill up with all kinds of things you didn't intend on doing?  It's Thursday and I've not done a single thing on my list.  Today.  Today is going to be the day.  First I figure I better catch up there.

I'm sure you are all sick of hearing about the Doll Quilt Swap, but I have to share this.  It was made by Michelle at greetingarts.  She knows I love birds and owls.  Thank you, Michelle!  Imagine that, another cat made it's way into a picture.  Anyone want a couple of cats?

I'm back on the pig kick after a person emailed me through etsy asking for a couple of pigs with wings.  I've yet to figure out how I'm going to do the wings.  I'd forgotten how much I love making these pigs.  This pretty pink pig is my favorite yet.  The pink reminds me of a newborn piglet.  Oink!

I did something different with this pig.  One thing I never liked about my softies is their weight.  They were so lightweight and fell over too easy.  I switched to a different Polyfil and added something to its legs.  Can you tell what it is?

It's almost 6000 BBs.  This box has been around here for a couple of years.  I didn't want to use rice or lentils because of the bug factor.  Five to 10 BBs in each pig leg is perfect.

And for all you Marshall lovers, this is for you.

With Marshall being born last week and Molly having trouble after, I got so far behind with my doll quilt.  I finally got the binding on and then I couldn't find the label!  I finally found it under one of the cat beds?!?!  As you can see, I chose to do a 2-color binding.  If I had to do it over again, not much about this quilt would be the same.  I love the colors, but the handkerchief is way out of whack and the binding is to wide.  But, it is what it is.  Notice my creative way of sneaking in a picture of Marshall ;)

Humor me again with some pictures of Marshall.  He's quite a character.  He loves to use his long legs.

Here come his teeth.

He doesn't eat grass, but he likes to do what Mama does.  His tongue is usually hanging out one side of his mouth when he's doing this.  His neck isn't quite long enough to reach the grass, so he has to bend his legs.

I'm on vacation this week!!  I have so much crafty stuff I want to do.  I am late with the Doll Quilt Swap quilt, but it's done and will go to the post office tomorrow.  I'm working on a special order for 2 pigs with wings and have a pile of other projects I'd like to do, including a Marshall softie as suggested by Paula.

His name is Marshall

We reached a compromise with the girls.  His name is Marshall, but they will call him Marshmallow. 

Moving Molly and Marshall from the barn lot to the barn before the rain.  Foals generally stay close to their mamas.  When they get too far mama nickers at them.  I love that sound.  A gentle rumbly noise.  A horsey I love you.

He is the cutest thing.  Reminds me of a fawn.

Did you know foals are born without teeth?  Ellie didn't believe us.  They will start growing soon and he should have some bitty ones in about a week or 2.

It's a boy!

Born between midnight and 7 a.m. July 18.  No name yet.  Tradition dictates that his name begin with M.  We are still in negotiations with the girls, who want to name him Marshmallow.  He's #15 on the Old School Acres Hayburner Team.  Mama Molly is a Belgian/Haflinger cross.  Papa Ben is an American Paint Horse.  They sure make cute babies!

DSQ II update

I tried to hand quilt and it was a disaster.  I hope my swap partner isn't too disappointed.  Tomorrow I will quilt and bind it.  It feels good to be about done.

***No baby yet, but chances are good it will be in the next day or so.

Baby watch 2007

Miss Molly is due to bless us with a new addition any day.  We moved her from the pasture into a barn lot last night.  Every morning the girls run downstairs asking to go see if Molly had her baby.  Horses tend to  foal late night/early morning.
